News report for Private Well Users in the Animas Valley - Notice that Animas Water Company wells have not been affected by flooding.

Due to the recent rain and flooding events, the La Plata County Public Health Department announced private wells in the Animas Valley may be damaged, and that if they are damaged, those wells could contain contaminants that cannot be removed with simple boiling of water.

We would like to assure you that Animas Water Company's water system was not compromised nor impacted by these events and our water is safe to drink. We perform regular testing as required by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment to ensure our water is clean and safe to drink at all times.

La Plata County is offering bottled water to residents in need of potable water at the La Plata County Fairgrounds from 3:00pm to 6:00pm starting today.

The AWC Team would also like to extend that if you know of a resident in our area affected by this flooding event who is in need of potable water to please have them contact our office directly at 970-259-4788 or via email at awc@animaswatercompany.com. We will be happy to assist by with filling water jugs at no charge to ensure safe clean drinking water is available until the situation is remedied.
