ON GOING - Hydrant Flushing - Summer 2026

Animas Water Company has implemented an ongoing hydrant-flushing program. This operation will be taking place on Wednesdays and Thursdays between 7:00am to 3:00pm throughout the warmer months. This process is to remove mineral and sediment that build up over time and to ensure that our hydrants are in good working order. 

We will be sending out text messages alerting you, our members when the process will be taking place in your neighborhood. If you haven’t received a text message, we may not have your most recent cell phone number on file. To remedy that, please contact us either by phone at 970-259-4788 or via email at awc@animaswatercompany.com to be added to our text messaging list.

After the testing is complete, you may notice discolored water and reduced water pressure during this time.  If you experience discolored water, please allow the cold water to run from your faucets for 5 to 10 minutes until it clears. Please check for discoloration particularly prior to using your washing machines and avoid running hot water as mineral sediments can accumulate in your water heater.  Water discoloration poses no health risk.  We appreciate you cooperation and apologize for any inconvenience and concern you may have.  Please contact us with additional questions or concerns at 970-259-4788 or via email at awc@animaswatercompany.com
